WE ARE A FAMILY WHO LOVES GIVING BACK TO BURNING MAN

Papa Bear and Packhorse (father and son), stumbled onto a dream in 2018…to bring a large mutant vehicle to the Playa to continue their family’s larger-than-life gifting tradition. Packhorse’s camp, Magic Hour (part of the Mystopia Village), would play steward to this art car, sprinkling stardust and beats across the desert, and in 2019 the dream became a reality.

The name of this galactic cruiser, “THE LUCKY STAR,” comes from the family name Gluckstern - which translates to “lucky star” in German. This playa ship was built with one idea in mind; that all the gifts The Lucky Star will offer are for everyone to enjoy, whether through sight, sound or merely as a conveyance to get around the Playa.

The Lucky Star has beautiful lines and astounding colorizations that let you see it from a distance - its LEDs and nebula lights dazzle and work in concert for the night with a state of the art sound system that beckons Burners across the playa to come, listen and dance!

We are also mindful that beyond sight and sound, we need to help our fellow Black Rock citizens in offering rides at all times to anyone who needs one.  With friendly flight attendants onboard, our team will try as much and as often as possible to give fellow Burners as long a ride as we can, yet stay within our safety limit of maximum passengers. The Lucky Star will be available day or night with water or help if needed. Tired, thirsty, or just need a place to rest?  The Lucky Star is here for all.

In the same spirit of gifting, we participate in the Art Tour program and BAIT so that even more people can enjoy this wonderful mobile platform.  After everything that Burning Man has given us through the years, we see this opportunity as just a small way to pay it forward to all our fellow Burners.

The Lucky Star’s maiden voyage at the 2019 Burn was a wild success (minus a couple of behind-the-scenes hiccups) and in the true spirit of Papa Bear, the ship has been upgraded and improved upon in the 3 years since the last time we were on Playa. We can’t get her back out there for everyone to enjoy and throw one heck of a party.

This year, expect exciting collaborations with DJs, artists, and other art cars, as well as a Friday sunset send-off for our beloved Papa Bear! Check the calendar link for details about all of our fun plans for 2022.

Thanks to our Burner friends and their companies who MADE THIS DREAM A REALITY
